Our areas of expertise include:
The UK solar photovoltaic (PV) market has grown significantly in recent years as the sector has built capacity and reduced supply chain costs. The predictability of solar PV systems, which convert sunlight into electricity, makes for attractive investment opportunities and the Ingenious Infrastructure team has offered investments through a range of funds.
Onshore wind is one of the most mature and cost efficient renewable energy technologies. As part of a renewable energy portfolio wind assets effectively complement the electricity generation profile of solar PV assets. Golden Square Energy, our joint venture with AG Renewables, has built a significant portfolio of single turbine projects around the UK. Key to success in this sector is the knowledge and experience of the team in pulling together these often complex projects.
Anaerobic digestion (AD) is a process which converts organic material into a gas which can be used to produce electricity and heat or can be exported to the National Gas Grid. Inputs to the process include farm waste, food waste or purpose grown crops. The technology is well established, particularly in continental Europe, but growth in the UK market is more recent. Output is independent of weather making for attractive base-load assets. We invest in businesses that develop processes to enhance the efficiency of AD through a variety of technologies, such as pre-treatment of feedstock.
The UK’s inefficient and ageing stock of property and an increasing focus on energy costs has created a challenge for property owners. Improving energy efficiency reduces energy demand and therefore overall energy cost. We have considerable experience in this growing sector where the project revenues have no dependence on government subsidies. Property owners benefit from improvements to their buildings with no upfront costs while benefiting from guaranteed energy savings. Investors can enjoy stable, uncorrelated returns from projects.
